Preparing the Blades

C&F Green Energy wind turbine bladesC&F Green Energy's wind turbine blades are manufactured in-house from aerospace type composite materials which are stronger than steel.

C&F's larger, 'oversized' blades greatly increase swept area, efficiencies and output. Our turbines can operate and reach max output at much lower wind speeds. Our turbines will start to generate electricity at wind of just 1.2 metres per second in the CF6e and CF11, or 1.5 m/s in the CF15 & CF20.

The blades are manufactured with a 360 degree fibre wrap (rather than gluing two halves together) in a closed mould infusion of glass filled vinylester resin over a polyurethane foam core. The exterior blade surface consists of a layer of gelcoat which provides significant stability arising from its resistance to UV degradation.
