Site Survey

To assess the suitability of your site for a wind turbine, wind speed is the most crucial element to be considered. High buildings and trees can shade the wind and create turbulence which can reduce efficiency and the life span of a turbine.

Therefore, factors that are investigated as part of an initial site survey include:

• Current electrical connection
• Potential planning issues or requirements
• Most suitable turbine to meet customers’ requirements
• Distance from turbine to inverters.
• Distance from inverters to fuse board
• Clear countryside which is free from obstruction
• Mast /blade requirements
• Current electricity costs, to determine payback on Investment

Alternatively our engineers can erect an anemometer on your site to measure the wind for one month or more. The data from the anemometer will be recorded each month will help give you an estimated output from the turbine per year, using this data as an average.
